The Indian Institute of Welding

(A Member Society of the International Institute of Welding)
 

These are applicable for the companies, organisations, firms, institutions engaged in the methods and means of welding and allied processes, fabricators, manufacturers & suppliers of Consumables and Equipment, Research & Development Institutions and Welding Education Service providers. Depending upon the size of Capital assets etc. the ICM’s are classified.


Class I: This shall include companies or firms engaged in the methods and means for welding and its allied processes, fabricators, manufacturers of consumables and equipments etc. The firm shall have invested capital in fixed assets exceeding Rupees One Crore.

Class II: This shall include companies or firms as in Class I but with Capital over Rupees Ten Lakhs, also trade associations or technical societies or government bodies interested in Welding or its allied science / processes.

Class III: This shall include companies or firms having invested capital not exceeding Rupees Ten Lakhs, Educational Institutions and recognised Technical and Research Institution.

Individual Members

There are five different categories i.e. Fellow, Member, Associate Member, Associate Professional Member and Associate depending upon the candidate’s qualification, experience, age, position in the field of welding. Life Membership facilities are available for Fellows, Members, Associate Members & Associate Professional Members. There are five different classes of individual membership including Fellow, depending upon the candidate’s qualification, experience, age, position in the field of Welding which are as follows. There is separate application for Fellowship.

MEMBER:

He shall be an Engineering Graduate (or its equivalent or Post Graduate Degree / Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Science / Technology and also having experiences in the field of Welding or its allied subject for a minimum period of 5 years)

OR
An Associate Member / Associate Professional Member of the Institute for a minimum period of 10 years.
OR
An Associate Member of the Institute for a minimum period of 5 years’ who have passed the AM-IIW Examination.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER:

He shall be an Engineering Graduate and interested in Welding & related Technology.

OR
A person who have passed AM-IIW Examination of the Institute.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSIONAL MEMBER:

He shall be a Diploma Engineer with Professional Experience in the field of welding for at least 5 years.

ASSOCIATE:

He shall be a person skilled in the art of welding and does not fall into any of the above categories, and any other person interested in Welding Technology & Science and in allied processes.

  • Every members are eligible to receive a free Journal once in a quarter, enriched with articles on latest development in Welding Technology. Currently in every issue there will be separate section for American Welding Society (AWS). In this section the articles are written by prominent Technologist of the worldA member may publish his article in the Indian Welding Journal (IWJ)
  • A member is eligible to appear in AM – IIW examination and obtain AM -IW degree which is equivalent to Bachelor Degree in Welding Technology as approved by Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
  • Free accesses to IIW library situated at all IIW Branch Office as well as at its national HQ at Kolkata
  • A member may attend any International Congress / Annual Assembly, National Conference / Seminar / Meet at a concessional delegate fees
  • Appear for the Diploma & Certification programme, which is recognised all over the world of the International Institute of Welding through Authorised Training Bodies (ATBs) appointed and controlled by ANB – India
  • Can be elected into the National Council as well in Branch Managing Committees

  • Any Technical problems related to welding can be referred to the Institute which will be attendedby the Experts panel.
  • On request, the Indian Institute of Welding may conduct technical lectures in the premises of the individual organisation to upgrade the knowledge.
  • Tailor made Training program can also be conducted by a group of Experts on request by the organisation.
  • Advertisement in the Journal (IWJ) will give wide publicity of the products.
  • Can be elected into the National Council as well in Branch Managing Committees.
